Process Initiation

The CAM depreciation process is usually run at the same time each month. In order to avoid year-end activity, exceptions are often made for the first and last month of the fiscal year. If no date is supplied by the user, the depreciation process sets the date to the last day of the previous month.

Before the depreciation procedure runs for the last month of the fiscal year, an additional procedure is initiated that sets the asset depreciation date to the end of the fiscal year for any moveable asset that has an asset depreciation date greater than the end of the fiscal year. Before the depreciation procedure runs for the first month of the fiscal year, an additional procedure is initiated to reset the period depreciation amounts to zero.

Dates for the blank-out period need to be set as follows:

Set Depreciation run date to yyyy-mm-dd (for example, 2012-07-26). The system uses this date to determine the period to run depreciation for.

Set Blank_out_period_run_date to mm/dd/yyyy (for example, 06/29/2012) to specify the date on which the system is to run the depreciation.

Set Blank_out_begin to mm/dd (for example, 04/01). This date determines the beginning of the blank-out period where automatic runs on the third Thursday will not apply. The Blank_out_begin date must be earlier in the calendar year than the Blank_out_end date.

Set Blank_out_end to mm/dd (for example, 07/31). This date determines the end of the blank-out period where automatic runs on the third Thursday will not apply. The Blank_out_end date must be later in the calendar year than the Blank_out_begin date.
